Home brewers

If you brew in a garage, you already know that a few degrees of temperature swing can turn a crisp ale into something you wouldn't serve to your friends. That's why we help home brewers keep their fermentation space stable, so your yeast does exactly what you expect it to.

The flat rate

One number, materials and labor together

Standard day
$2,400
Materials and labor, installed. Six days a week sit at this rate.
Joker day
Lower, every week
One day a week costs less. It moves weekly, revealed on the homepage.

$400 materials deposit books your day. The balance is due when the work is finished and you're happy with it. Anything outside a standard install is quoted before work begins, never discovered after.

For this room

Home brewers

Garage temperatures in Austin routinely climb into the 90s and beyond during summer, well above the 60 to 70 degree range most ale yeasts prefer. On brew day, the boil from your kettle adds even more heat, pushing the room up another 5 to 10 degrees before you even pitch the yeast. A ductless mini split holds a steady temperature through all of that, so your batch doesn't pick up off flavors from heat stress.

You don't need a freezing cold room for most beer styles. What you need is consistency, a stable 68 degrees that doesn't spike at 3 p.m. when the sun hits the garage door. Our flat rate installation covers the mini split unit, line set, and labor for $2,400, and we include a site visit to confirm the right size for your space before we start.

Booking requires a $400 materials deposit to hold your installation day, and you pay the rest when the work is finished. One day each week is our Joker Day at a lower price, and the exact rate changes week to week. Check our homepage to see if your install day lines up with that deal.

Common questions

What people ask us about this

I only brew a few batches a year. Is a mini split worth it for just a garage?

Yes, because even a single batch takes weeks to ferment, and a few hot afternoons can ruin it. A mini split keeps the room at a steady temperature year round, so every batch you brew has a better chance of turning out the way you intended.

How do you know what size mini split my garage needs without seeing it?

We don't promise a specific size or BTU number over the phone. We give you a rule of thumb based on your garage's square footage and ceiling height, but we always confirm the right size during a free on site visit before we install.

Will the mini split handle the extra heat from my boil kettle on brew day?

Yes, a properly sized mini split can handle the added heat from a boil, as long as the unit is matched to the room volume and insulation. That's exactly why we do a site visit first, so the system can keep up even when you have a hot kettle going.

What is the Joker Day and how do I get that price?

One day each week we offer a lower installation price, and that day moves around from week to week. The exact Joker Day price is posted on our homepage, and you can claim it when you book that day with a $400 deposit.

Is the $2,400 flat rate really everything, or are there extra fees for my garage setup?

The $2,400 covers materials and labor for a standard installation, including the mini split, line set, and electrical work. If your garage needs something unusual, like a very long line set or a structural modification, we talk about that before you pay anything.
