Home library and reading room owners

Your library is a room for long afternoons with a hardcover, and the last thing you want is to worry about the humidity curling your pages. A ductless mini split can keep that room steady, so the books stay flat and you stay comfortable.

The flat rate

One number, materials and labor together

Standard day
$2,400
Materials and labor, installed. Six days a week sit at this rate.
Joker day
Lower, every week
One day a week costs less. It moves weekly, revealed on the homepage.

$400 materials deposit books your day. The balance is due when the work is finished and you're happy with it. Anything outside a standard install is quoted before work begins, never discovered after.

For this room

Home library and reading room owners

If your library used to be a dining room or a den, it is likely off the main duct run. That means the central air barely reaches it, and the temperature swings as the sun moves. Paper and leather bindings soak up that extra moisture and heat, which is why you may notice pages waving or covers warping over time. A room that stays at a consistent humidity protects what is on the shelves.

A ductless mini split puts the conditioning right in the room, not in a duct system that gives up halfway. It heats and cools as needed, so the air does not dry out or get damp. The goal is a stable environment for both you and the books, without relying on your existing HVAC. The installer will look at the room, the windows, and the sun exposure to plan the placement.

The price is a flat rate of $2,400, covering all materials and labor. You book with a $400 deposit to hold the day, and the rest is due when the work is done. One day each week is the Joker Day, priced below the standard rate. The exact Joker price changes week to week, so check the homepage to see the current deal.

Common questions

What people ask us about this

How do you know what size mini split my library needs?

Sizing is not something we guess over the phone. We do an on-site visit to measure the room, check the windows, and look at how the sun hits the shelves. That visit confirms the right BTU range for the space before any installation. We do not promise a specific number ahead of time, because the actual layout matters.

What is included in the $2,400 flat rate?

The flat rate covers all materials and labor for the complete ductless mini split installation. You pay a $400 deposit when you book, and the remaining balance is due after the work is finished. There are no separate charges for parts or labor. One day each week is the Joker Day, at a lower price that is shown on the homepage.

Will the mini split ruin the look of my bookshelves?

A ductless system uses a wall-mounted indoor unit, which can be placed high on a wall or in a spot that is out of the way. The installer will work with you to find a location that keeps the shelves clear and the air moving. You do not need to sacrifice a whole wall for it. The placement is part of the on-site planning.

My library has a lot of windows with direct sunlight. Will that cause problems?

Direct sun can add a lot of heat to a room, especially when the books themselves hold that warmth. The mini split is sized to handle the heat load, and the on-site visit will take window placement into account. We want the room to stay comfortable even on a bright afternoon. The system can adjust to keep the air moving without blasting you.

Will I hear the mini split while I'm reading?

A ductless mini split has no ductwork to carry sound, and the indoor unit is mounted high on the wall, not right next to your chair. The installer will secure it tightly and make sure it is level, so there are no rattles. The room stays comfortable without the equipment becoming the center of attention.
