Refrigerant is another factor. Every mini split system comes with a factory charge that covers a standard line set length, often around 15 to 25 feet. When your run exceeds that, the installer must add extra refrigerant to the system. That refrigerant is measured by weight and can add noticeable cost. Our flat rate covers the standard charge, but additional refrigerant beyond the factory allowance is billed as needed.
Running a line set through a wall is one thing. Running it 60 or 80 feet across a hot attic or behind finished walls is another. The labor hours go up because the installer has to pull the tubing carefully without kinking it, secure it along the path, and ensure proper slope for the drain line.
