If your home has brick exterior walls or siding, the way we mount your indoor and outdoor mini split units is different. Brick is tough and dense. Siding is lighter and has a hollow space behind it. Each material calls for a specific approach to keep the install secure, leak free, and long lasting for Central Texas weather.

At Jester Climate, we handle both types every week across Austin, Round Rock, and beyond. Our flat rate of $2400 for materials and labor covers the right hardware and technique for your wall. No guesswork. No surprises.
Brick is strong but brittle. We use a hammer drill with a masonry bit to create clean holes for the line set and mounting brackets. For outdoor units, we bolt the stand or bracket directly into the brick with expansion anchors. For indoor units, we drill through the brick to run the refrigerant lines and condensate drain to the outside.
Because brick does not flex, we must seal the penetration carefully with a high quality exterior grade silicone. This stops water and bugs from getting in. Austin heat and humidity make that seal critical. A sloppy brick mount can lead to moisture problems over time. We take the extra time to do it right.
Siding (vinyl, wood, or fiber cement) hides a cavity behind it. That cavity is usually just insulation and air. You cannot simply screw a heavy outdoor unit into siding. It will pull loose. So we first locate the wall studs behind the siding. Then we install a blocking board or a heavy duty bracket that is lag bolted into the studs. The mini split unit then mounts to that blocking, not to the siding itself.
For the indoor unit, we cut a neat hole through the siding and sheathing to pass the line set through. We use a siding trim ring or a flashing plate to keep water out. The condensate drain also exits through this same hole. In heavy rain areas like Central Texas, a proper flashing detail prevents rot and mold. We do not skip it.
Brick takes more time to drill and requires special bits. Siding takes more time to find studs and build a solid mount. Neither one is inherently more expensive in our flat rate model. We charge the same $2400 for materials and labor regardless of your exterior type. The only exception is if the install requires unusually long line sets or custom work beyond a standard wall mount. We will tell you that upfront.
Honestly, brick can be a little slower because the drilling is dusty and loud. Siding can be slower if the studs are tricky to locate. Both are routine for our crew. We have mounted hundreds of units in both materials across Austin and nearby cities. The result is the same: a clean, secure install that works for years.
Yes. We drill small holes through the brick for the line set and bracket bolts. The holes are sealed with silicone and are not visible once the unit is in place. The brick remains structurally sound. We do not cut into the brick face for looks. The mounting brackets are designed to distribute the weight evenly.
The hole we cut in the siding is permanent unless you patch it. If you ever remove the unit, a siding repair piece or a small patch panel can cover the opening. Many homeowners keep the unit in place for years. The flashing we install protects the siding from water, so the area stays in good condition.
Drilling through brick takes more time and a stronger drill bit. But the actual process is straightforward. Siding is easier to cut but requires careful flashing to prevent leaks. Both are standard jobs for our crew. We handle both every week in Central Texas homes.
The Joker Day price is a lower flat rate than $2400. It changes weekly and is posted on our homepage. It applies to any standard install, whether your home has brick or siding. You book the install with a $400 deposit. The remaining balance is due after we show the system running. Pay by card through our secure checkout.
Just clear the area around the indoor and outdoor unit locations. Move furniture, plants, or anything that might be in the way. Our crew brings all tools and hardware. For brick mounts, expect some dust from drilling. We will tarp off the area. For siding mounts, we work cleanly and remove debris.
