The Slot: After Rough, Before Hang
The indoor head mounts on a framed bay with insulation in and drywall not yet hung. Outdoor unit, wall penetration, line set path, drain route, and circuit are confirmed at the site walk. Paint, flooring, and trim come after the head is on the wall and the hole is sealed.
Book the slot when insulation is on the calendar. Hang waits until the head is on the wall. Call (512) 297-7493.
- Rough electrical done to the outdoor location
- Insulation in the head wall
- Drywall still off those walls
- Exterior pad area clear
- Both faces of the penetration bay open
- Paint, floor, and trim not started
Too Early and Too Late
Too early puts the head in an open bay. Insulation crews snag the line set. Drywall lifts the unit or buries the flare nuts. The outdoor pad gets used as a saw horse.
Too late means a hole through painted drywall, a drain chase cut after flooring, and a patch that shows at walkthrough. The GC eats the callback. Slot it between insulation and hang.
What Each Trade Leaves Behind
Electrician: a dedicated circuit roughed to the outdoor location, disconnect location marked, breaker space identified. Confirmed at the site walk. Do not leave the circuit as a shared garage receptacle.
Framer and insulator: blocking in the head wall, insulation in, vapor details done, both faces of the penetration stud bay still open. Slab or exterior: outdoor pad area graded and clear, no form boards stacked on the set location.
- Electrician: dedicated circuit rough at the pad
- Framer: blocking for the indoor head
- Insulator: head wall filled
- No rock on the penetration wall
- Pad location left clear
- GC: date on the board
The Number You Plug Into the Bid
Standard single zone is $2,400 on weekdays, materials and labor. $2,600 on weekends. One JOKER DAY each week is priced lower than the weekday rate; the day changes and is posted on the home page.
$400 materials deposit books the date. Balance is due on completion. Non standard work is quoted before any work begins. Service area is Austin and the I-35 corridor.
Site Walk Before You Bid the Room
A garage office reads smaller than it loads. West glass, a hot attic, and an unconditioned slab push the size up. Sizing is a rule of thumb confirmed on site.
Line set path, drain routing, penetration location, circuit, and equipment size are confirmed at the site walk. Permits are on the owner or the GC. Requirements vary by jurisdiction.
Walkthrough, Then the Next Job
Remote stays in the room. Outdoor unit is set, penetration sealed, drain terminated. Finish trades paint, floor, and trim around a unit that is already there.
Call (512) 297-7493 to set up repeat scheduling. One phone call. One line item.

- Blocking in the head wall
- Outdoor set area clear and graded
- Inside and outside access to the penetration
- Confirmed date posted for the crew
- ConfirmHead location, outdoor location, penetration, drain, and circuit get a last look against the site walk notes.
- Outdoor setPad goes down and the condenser is set. Placement matches what was confirmed at the site walk.
- PenetrationHole is cut, line set is run, flares are made. This is why drywall is still off.
- Indoor headHead mounts to blocking. Drain is run and terminated, and the penetration is sealed from both sides.
- Start upSystem is started. Remote is left in the room.
Phases run in this order on a standard job. Site conditions change the pace, so nothing here is a timeline commitment. If something on site is different from the walk, you get told before it turns into cost.

Running the same install across more than one project? Call (512) 297-7493 to set up repeat scheduling.
- Can you come the day the drywall crew leaves?
- That is late. The head should already be on the wall so hangers work around it. Slot after insulation, before hang. Lock the date before the hang crew is scheduled.
- What does $2,400 include?
- Standard single zone, materials and labor, weekdays. One indoor unit, one outdoor unit, wall penetration, line set, drain, connection to the roughed circuit, start up. Anything outside that is quoted before work begins.
- Who pulls the permit?
- Not this crew. Requirements vary by jurisdiction. Confirming permit needs is on the owner or the general contractor.
- What if we need Saturday?
- Weekends are $2,600. One JOKER DAY each week is priced lower than the weekday rate. That day changes week to week and is listed on the home page.
- How do I keep this as one line on every conversion?
- Paste the line item into the estimate. Call (512) 297-7493 to set up repeat scheduling. Use the weekday number unless you booked a weekend.
