Dog owners using the garage

If your garage doubles as your dog's daytime space during an Austin summer, you know how fast that room turns into an oven. A closed garage in July or August can hit dangerous temperatures in minutes, and a panting dog needs real airflow and a stable temperature, not just a fan pushing hot air around.

The flat rate

One number, materials and labor together

Standard day
$2,400
Materials and labor, installed. Six days a week sit at this rate.
Joker day
Lower, every week
One day a week costs less. It moves weekly, revealed on the homepage.

$400 materials deposit books your day. The balance is due when the work is finished and you're happy with it. Anything outside a standard install is quoted before work begins, never discovered after.

Dog owners using the garage

A dog door or crate placed against a wall that bakes in the afternoon sun only makes the problem worse. You want a safe, comfortable spot for your dog without running the whole house's air conditioner all day. A ductless mini split solves that by cooling just the garage, giving your dog a steady, safe temperature while you keep the rest of the house at whatever setting you prefer.

At Jester Climate, we install ductless mini splits as a flat rate of $2,400 for materials and labor together. One day each week is our Joker Day, priced lower than the standard rate, and the exact price changes week to week. To hold your installation day, we ask for a $400 materials deposit, and the remaining balance is due when the work is finished.

Our licensed crew will size the unit using a rule of thumb based on your garage's square footage and conditions, but we always confirm the right size during a free on-site visit. No BTU promises are made until we see your space, because your dog's safety depends on a system that fits exactly.

Common questions

What people ask us about this

Can a mini split really keep my garage cool enough for my dog on a 100-degree day?

Yes, a properly sized ductless mini split can hold a steady, safe temperature even during the hottest Austin afternoons. The key is getting the size right, which we confirm during an on-site visit rather than guessing over the phone.

How does your flat rate and Joker Day work?

Our standard installation is a flat $2,400 for everything, materials and labor. One day each week is our Joker Day at a lower price that changes week to week. You can see that week's Joker price on our homepage. We take a $400 deposit to hold your day, and you pay the rest after the job is done.

My dog's crate is near the garage door that gets direct sun. Will that affect the cooling?

It can. A hot wall or door adds heat load, and we account for that when we size the unit. During our on-site visit we'll look at where the crate or dog door is placed and make sure the mini split can handle that extra heat.

Do I have to run my whole house AC to keep the garage comfortable?

No, that's the whole point of a mini split. It's a separate zone that only cools the garage. You can keep your main AC off or at a higher setting while your dog stays comfortable in the garage.

How do you decide what size unit my garage needs?

We use a rule of thumb based on the garage's size, insulation, windows, and sun exposure. But we never promise a specific BTU number until we've been on site and taken actual measurements. That visit is free and makes sure the system is right for your dog's space.
