The first thing we do is listen. You tell us about the room or space you want to cool or heat. Is it a sun blasted concrete garage in Killeen? A second story master bedroom in South Austin that your central air never reaches? We ask about the size of the room, the number of windows, and the insulation if you know it. From there we recommend the right sized unit. Bigger is not always better. An oversized mini short cycles and wastes energy. A properly sized unit runs longer and keeps humidity down, which matters a lot during our humid Central Texas springs.
If you are not sure what you need, that is fine. We do not expect you to be an expert. We measure, we calculate, and we tell you the options. The quote is always the same flat $2,400 for a standard installation. That covers the indoor unit, the outdoor condenser, the line set, the wiring, and the labor. No hidden fees for refrigerant or mounting brackets. If your situation is not standard, like a very long line set run or a tricky wall, we tell you that upfront before you commit.
Once you decide to move forward, we ask for a $400 materials deposit. That deposit locks in your install day on our calendar. It covers the cost of ordering your specific unit and having the materials ready. We do not run your card for the full amount until the job is done and you have seen the system running. The deposit is paid through our secure checkout. We do not handle cash on site. No checks either. Just a simple card payment.
Now here is a neat twist. One day each week we call Joker Day. On that day the price for a standard install is lower than $2,400. But the exact Joker Day price changes every week. Our crew arrives at the agreed time. We bring all the equipment in one trip. We lay down floor protection and shoe covers if we are working inside a finished space. The installation typically takes four to six hours for a single zone system. We mount the indoor unit on an interior wall, drill a small hole through to the outside, run the copper line set and the electrical cable, and mount the outdoor condenser on a pad or bracket. We pull a vacuum on the line set to remove moisture and check for leaks. Then we open the valves and fire it up.
We show you how to use the remote and the basic functions. We make sure the air coming out is cold and the drain line is dripping properly. Only then do we ask for the remaining balance. You pay through the same secure checkout link on your phone or computer. The whole payment process takes one minute. After that you are done. You own a working mini split and you know exactly what you paid for it.
A mini split is not always the best choice for every situation. If you already have ductwork in good shape and your central air conditioner is simply old, replacing the central unit is often cheaper and simpler. A mini split shines when you have no ducts and do not want to install them. That happens a lot in Austin's older bungalows and in new room additions. Window units are cheaper to buy but they block the view, let in outside noise, and usually use more electricity for the same cooling power. Portable units are the least efficient of all and tend to dump warm air back into the room. A mini split is quieter, more efficient, and leaves your window open.
For heating, a mini split works well down to about 5 degrees Fahrenheit. That covers almost all Central Texas winter nights. If you live in a very cold climate like Minnesota, you would need a different system. But for Austin, Round Rock, Temple, and Waco, a mini split handles both summer heat and winter cold just fine.
A standard single zone install takes about four to six hours. That includes mounting the indoor unit, running the line set, mounting the outdoor unit, evacuating the lines, and testing the system. A multi zone system with two or three indoor heads takes longer, usually a full day. We will give you a time estimate when you book.
Clear the area around the indoor wall where the unit will go. Move furniture and anything hanging on that wall. If the outdoor unit will sit on the ground, make sure the spot is level and free of debris. If you have pets, it helps to keep them in a separate room during the work. Our crew handles the rest.
We tell you the exact price before you pay the deposit. The $2,400 flat rate covers a typical single zone install with a line set run up to 25 feet and a standard wall mount. If your home requires a longer line set, a roof mount, or special electrical work, we quote that separately. No surprises.
You can buy a DIY kit and try, but we do not recommend it. Mini splits require proper vacuuming of the line set to remove moisture and air. If that step is skipped or done poorly, the compressor can fail within a year. The electrical work also needs to meet code. Many homeowners who try a DIY install end up calling us to fix leaks or wiring issues. Our flat rate of $2,400 is often cheaper than replacing a failed DIY unit.
We stand behind our work. If there is a problem with the installation itself, like a refrigerant leak or a loose connection, we come back and fix it at no charge. The equipment warranty is handled by the manufacturer, typically five to seven years for the compressor and parts. We give you the paperwork and help you file a claim if needed.
