Gun safe owners

If you keep a gun safe in a Texas garage or utility room, you already know that summer humidity can leave rust on blued steel even when the safe door is shut. A dehumidifying rod helps inside the safe, but it can't fix a room that stays hot and damp for months.

The flat rate

One number, materials and labor together

Standard day
$2,400
Materials and labor, installed. Six days a week sit at this rate.
Joker day
Lower, every week
One day a week costs less. It moves weekly, revealed on the homepage.

$400 materials deposit books your day. The balance is due when the work is finished and you're happy with it. Anything outside a standard install is quoted before work begins, never discovered after.

A mini split from Jester Climate changes that. By cooling and dehumidifying the whole space around your safe, it takes the load off your internal safe dehumidifier and keeps the air stable. That matters because a garage safe sees bigger temperature swings than an interior closet, and those swings can push moisture into the safe every time the air warms up.

Our flat rate for a standard installation is $2,400, materials and labor together. You pay a $400 materials deposit to hold your install day, and the rest when the work is finished. One day each week is our Joker Day, priced lower than the standard rate. The exact Joker price changes week to week, and you can see it on our homepage.

We size your system by a rule of thumb based on the room's square footage and sun exposure, then confirm it during a free on-site visit. No promises on exact BTUs until we see the space. Our crew is licensed, and we serve Austin and the I-35 corridor. Call (512) 297-7493 to talk about your safe room.

Common questions

What people ask us about this

Will a mini split really keep my gun safe from rust better than a dehumidifying rod alone?

A dehumidifying rod dries the air inside the safe, but it can't control the humidity of the room around it. If the room is hot and humid, the safe's internal dehumidifier works harder and may not keep up. A mini split cools and dehumidifies the entire space, so the air outside the safe is stable and dry. That gives your safe's internal dehumidifier an easier job.

How do you know what size mini split my garage or room needs?

We start with a rule of thumb based on the square footage and how much sun the room gets. But we don't promise a specific BTU number until we come out and look at the space. During that free on-site visit we measure the room, check insulation, and confirm the right size for your setup.

What is the Joker Day and how do I get that lower price?

The Joker Day is one day each week when we offer a price lower than our standard $2,400 flat rate. The exact Joker price changes week to week, and we post it on our homepage. You can book that day by paying the $400 materials deposit. The remaining balance is due when the work is finished.

Can you install a mini split in a garage that already has a gun safe in it?

Yes. We've installed mini splits in garages with safes, workbenches, and other gear. We work around what's already in the space. The indoor unit mounts on a wall or ceiling, and the outdoor unit goes outside. We'll talk through the best placement during the on-site visit.

Do I pay the full $2,400 upfront or just the deposit?

You pay a $400 materials deposit to hold your install day. The rest of the flat rate is due when the installation is finished and you're satisfied. That way you only pay the full amount once the system is running and cooling your safe room.
