After drywall, before paint. Not after walkthrough.
A unit turn does not need a full system replacement to make a room rentable. Slot the mini split after drywall and before paint. Standard single zone is $2,400 on weekdays, materials and labor; $2,600 on weekends.

The slot: after drywall, before paint
The indoor head mounts on finished drywall. The outdoor unit location is confirmed at the site walk. Paint, flooring, and trim follow the install, not the other way around.
Rough electrical and insulation come first. Drywall closes the mount wall; the mini split goes in next, then paint, then flooring and trim. Permit requirements vary by jurisdiction; confirming that is on the owner or the general contractor.
Slotted too early
A head on the wall before drywall means the hangers work around a box and a line set. Insulation gets cut around an open chase. The indoor unit takes dust and dings from every trade that follows.
If you call before the circuit path exists, stop. Circuit size is confirmed at the site walk. Do not assume the panel is ready.
Slotted too late
Paint already on the mount wall means a patch at the head and at the penetration. Flooring already down means the crew is working over finished goods. Trim already set fights the indoor unit.
If the room is already at walkthrough, the mini split is still not in. The room is not rentable. Put the date after drywall and before paint.
What preceding trades leave
Electrical leaves a circuit path. Size is confirmed at the site walk. Insulation is in. The mount wall is ready for drywall, or drywall is already hung, taped, and floated.
Hold paint on the mount wall. Hold flooring on the path to the outdoor unit. Hold trim until the head is up.
- Electrical: circuit path in; size confirmed at site walk
- Insulation: in, mount wall closed enough for drywall
- Drywall: hung, taped, floated on the mount wall
- Paint: off the mount wall
- Flooring: off the outdoor run and indoor work area
- Trim: not installed at the head location
The bid number and how you book
Plug $2,400 into a weekday bid for a standard single zone, materials and labor. Weekends are $2,600. One joker day each week is priced lower than the weekday rate; which day it lands on changes week to week and is revealed on the home page.
$400 materials deposit to book; balance due on completion. Non standard work is quoted before any work begins. Service area is Austin and the I-35 corridor. Call (512) 297-7493 to set up repeat scheduling.
Walkthrough comes last
Do not walk the owner through an empty wall and an open penetration. The head should be on the drywall. The outdoor unit should be set. Paint can cover the rest.
You pick the date. It gets confirmed. If anything changes, you get told. Jester Climate is the name on the line item.
