Vinyl record collectors

If you keep your vinyl collection in a room that gets hot, you already know the risk: one warm afternoon can warp a record beyond playable. The paper sleeves and inserts are just as sensitive to humidity swings, and your turntable and amp add their own heat during listening sessions. A ductless mini split from Jester Climate keeps that room at a steady temperature and humidity level, protecting your records and your gear.

For this room

Vinyl record collectors

A standard window unit or central system often can't keep a record room cool enough when the sun hits an uncovered window directly. That direct sun on shelved records is a real threat, and even a brief temperature spike can leave a permanent warp. A ductless mini split gives you precise control over that single room, so you can set it and forget it.

We install mini splits at a flat rate of $2,400 for materials and labor together. One day each week is our Joker Day, priced lower than the standard rate. The Joker day moves week to week, and the exact price is shown on our homepage. To hold your installation day, we ask for a $400 materials deposit. The remaining balance is due when the work is finished.

Our crew is licensed. We size the system based on a rule of thumb for your room's square footage and layout, but the final BTU needs are confirmed during an on site visit. That visit ensures the unit is matched to your space, not guessed from a chart. No surprises, just a system that works for your collection.

Common questions

What people ask us about this

Can a mini split keep my record room at a steady temperature even during a Texas summer?

Yes. A properly sized ductless mini split maintains a consistent temperature and humidity level in a single room, which is exactly what your vinyl needs. We confirm the sizing during a site visit so the unit can handle your room's specific heat load, including from your turntable and amp.

How does the flat rate work and what is the Joker Day?

Our standard installation price is $2,400 flat, covering materials and labor. One day each week is our Joker Day at a lower price. The Joker day changes week to week, and you can see the exact price on our homepage. To book any day, we need a $400 materials deposit, and the rest is due when the work is done.

Will you promise a specific BTU number for my room before seeing it?

No. We use a rule of thumb for sizing based on your room's size and layout, but we always confirm the actual BTU needs during an on site visit. This way the system is matched to your space, not a generic estimate.

How do you handle the heat from my turntable and amplifier during listening sessions?

Those components add a small heat load, and a properly sized mini split accounts for that. During the site visit we note where your gear sits and how the room is used, so the system keeps the temperature steady even when you're spinning records for hours.

What about direct sunlight on my shelved records?

Direct sun can raise the temperature of a record shelf quickly, and that heat can warp vinyl. A mini split gives you the ability to cool that room independently, so even if you have an uncovered window, the system can offset the solar heat gain. We can also recommend placement of the indoor unit to help manage that.
