Home lab and server rack owners

If your home server rack or networking gear lives in a closet or small room, you already know that heat isn't a side effect it's a constant problem. Even at idle, the processors, hard drives, and power supplies pump out steady heat, and in a small enclosed space that heat has nowhere to go. A mini split installation from Jester Climate gives you precise, reliable cooling that keeps your equipment's ambient temperature stable, so your hardware lasts longer and stays dependable.

The flat rate

One number, materials and labor together

Standard day
$2,400
Materials and labor, installed. Six days a week sit at this rate.
Joker day
Lower, every week
One day a week costs less. It moves weekly, revealed on the homepage.

$400 materials deposit books your day. The balance is due when the work is finished and you're happy with it. Anything outside a standard install is quoted before work begins, never discovered after.

For this room

Home lab and server rack owners

Your server closet traps heat faster than almost any other room in the house. The rack's fans push warm air out, but without a dedicated cooling system that air just recirculates and climbs. That creeping ambient temperature directly shortens the life of drives, power supplies, and processors, and it can cause random crashes or throttling when you need uptime most.

A ductless mini split solves that by pulling heat out of the room cycle by cycle, not just blowing air around. The evaporator unit mounts high on the wall or ceiling, and the outdoor compressor handles the heat exchange outside. The result is a steady, predictable temperature that doesn't spike when the rack is under load or when the door stays closed for hours.

At Jester Climate we install mini splits as a flat rate of $2,400 for materials and labor, with no hidden fees. One day each week is our Joker Day at a lower price the exact amount is posted on our homepage. To hold your install date we ask for a $400 materials deposit, and the rest is due when the work is finished. Our crew is licensed, and we size the system based on a rule of thumb that gets confirmed during an on site visit we won't promise a specific BTU number until we see your closet and measure the heat load.

Common questions

What people ask us about this

How do you determine the right size mini split for my server closet?

We start with a rough rule of thumb based on the room's square footage and the equipment you're running, but we always confirm the sizing during a free on site visit. We measure the actual heat load, check the insulation, and see how the room is laid out before we commit to a specific BTU rating. That way you get a unit that can handle the constant heat from your gear without being oversized or undersized.

Will the mini split be loud enough to annoy me or my neighbors?

Ductless mini splits are designed to be quiet compared to window units or portable ACs. The indoor blower runs at a low hum around 20 to 30 decibels, which is about the same as a quiet conversation. The outdoor compressor can be heard from outside but it's much less intrusive than a traditional HVAC unit. If noise is a concern, we can mount the outdoor unit away from windows or bedrooms.

How does your pricing work? I see you mention a flat rate and a Joker Day.

Our standard installation price is $2,400 flat rate for materials and labor, no surprises. One day each week is our Joker Day, where the price is lower than the standard rate. The exact Joker price is posted on our homepage, and it changes week to week. To book any day you pay a $400 materials deposit upfront, and the remaining balance is due when the installation is complete.

Do I need to empty my server closet before you install the mini split?

You'll need to clear the area around where the indoor unit will be mounted on the wall or ceiling, and make sure the crew has access to the closet. If your rack is in the way, we can work with you to move it temporarily or schedule around your setup. We'll go over the details during the on site visit so there are no surprises on install day.

What happens if my equipment generates more heat than the mini split can handle?

We size the system specifically for your heat load during the on site visit, so the unit we install will be capable of maintaining a stable temperature even when your rack is running full tilt. If you ever add more gear that increases the heat output significantly, let us know we can revisit the sizing and discuss options like adding a second unit.
